FAQ

So you want to know more about Knucklehead!  Here are some of the most frequently asked questions, or something like that.

Q: How long have you been blogging?

A: Since December, 2008.  Knucklehead! is actually my second blog.  I blew up my first one after someone took a couple things I'd written horrifically out of context and tried to cause problems for me.  That's what I get for using my full name.

Q: Your blog is "semi-anonymous."  What exactly are you hiding?

A: Weren't you paying attention?  I said that someone gave me grief so I started a new blog and stopped using my full name.

Q: Your profile says "Chris @ Knucklehead."  Is that really your first name?

A: Maybe.  Or maybe not.  Really, what difference does it make?  If you call me "Chris" in a comment or an e-mail, I'll know who you're talking to.

Q: Okay, will you at least tell us where you're from?

A: Sure.  I'm originally from a small town called Middlesex, New Jersey.  Great place, wonderful people.  My family moved out west in the early 1980's, so now I live in Southern California.

Q: That's all we get?  "Southern California?"  It's a pretty big place, you can't be a little more specific?

A: Well, without pinning myself down too much, let's just say I can drive to Los Angeles, San Diego or Las Vegas without having to stop for gas.

Q: How do we know you're telling the truth?

A: You don't, really.  But if I were going to bullshit you about where I live, I'd say something with more pizazz, like Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan or French Lick, Indiana.

Q: How often do you post new material?

A: Oh, good, another blogging question.  I try to put up a new post every three days.  I usually have three or four pieces in the works at any given time, in various stages of revision.  By the time one is ready to post, it's been pretty well polished and tinkered with.  Not that it won't still suck, but at least we know it's the best I could've made it.

Q: Who are some of your favorite humor writers?

A: Carl Hiaasen is fantastic, I love his combination of streamlined plotting and hilarious dialogue.  Chris Moore is one of the most original humor novelists going right now, if you haven't read his book "Lamb", you must do so immediately.  I also enjoy Tim Dorsey and Christopher Buckley.

Q: You didn't mention Dave Barry.  Is it because this whole Q and A format is something he does all the time and you're trying to hide the fact that you're just ripping him off?

A: I'm sorry, Dave who?

Q: You don't really think your readers are still buying this, do you?  I'm sure they've figured out that you're writing both the questions and the answers.

A: You're probably right.  Well, except for Quirkyloon.  She's pretty gullible.

Q: You're still doing it, you know.  Writing the questions and answers yourself.  Do you think maybe you're schizophenic?

A: The thought has never crossed our mind.  Uh, I mean "my."  MY mind.

Q: Any blogs you'd like to recommend?

A: Sure.  My absolute favorites are ...by Jeff Tompkins, Suldog, The Fred Effect, and Too Many Mornings.  Aside from those guys, there are many more that I really love.  For the complete list, check out the "blogroll" tab or the "Knuck's Favorites" section of my sidebar.

Q: Okay, well, thanks for your time.  What do you say we go grab a beer?

A: Love to.
